Headphones. Is it an impedance thing? Why do they have different SPL?
I run into different headphones and different field mixers. Why do different headphones have more or less SPL than others? Is it an impedance mismatch thing? If so, what questions should I ask or research to find the best match of mixer output and headphones?

Impedance has a lot to do with it, so does sensitivity.
Rane used to publish a list of headphones with specs. They still may.
I remember the AKG 240 being the least sensitive and the Sony MDR 7506 best the most sensitive.
