Ben, Thanks for the very detailed reply. It’s great to talk to such an accomplished Pro. I use Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 as my editor, I have Discreet Combustion 3 which I use on occasion and Grass Valley Procoder 3 is in the mail( I asn’t getting good results from the Premiere’s Adobe Encoder)
I have 3 hardives, 1 500gb SATA for Storage and 2 160GB SATAs in a RAID for editing. I’m going to change the 160s for 500s and that’s why I was wondering about the OS. Just looking down the road.

The immediate goal is video for the web – still exploring possibilites – and putting my three short films up on my website.
So you would recommend either change to Vista or keep XP and upgrade to Sevice Pack 3?
Thanks again for all the info – Raymond

Thanks, that’s good to know, especially since my editing computer has dual Xeon processors. Thanks again – Raymond

Hi and thanks for your reply. I use a PC with Premiere Pro as my editor. I just found GRASS VALLEY PROCODER 3 on the web. It’s in my price range for $359.00. CarbonCoder looked WAY more expensive.
How would you say GRASS VALLEY PROCODER 3 is compared to Sqeeze in learning curve?
    Thanks – Raymond

Thanks that really helps. I’ve noticed there are three to choose from – A, B, and C rated by MHz (Channel Set A/518-554 MHz to Set C/740-776 MHz – What does this mean and which is best? Thanks again Raymond

Hi Mike and everyone. The clips will be for both You Tube and my own future website. Probably not flash though. I’m average at web development. I’m probably going to buy that video on the Cow Website. I used to have a digital art website, but video throws me.

I tried the NTSC download 512kbps The quality looks fine, but the black frame around the video is weird. Of course, I don’t know what it’ll look like when I upload it. You can tell this is not my area. I’ve Directed, shot, and edited several shorts, but never got much into the output area.
Thanks again for your help – Raymond

Thanks Lloyd, I played it through my TV and Firewired it back into my PC. The only momentary snag, was that I didn’t think to remove the DV tape in the camera, so it kept capturing that tape. But when I removed it, it captured the DVD feed. Thanks again, and have a great day – Raymond

  • It worked! Thanks – Raymond
