  • Copying DVD to Tape, then into Premiere Pro

Posted by Raymond Tarry on August 1, 2008 at 8:05 pm

Hello, I’ve got a DVD of my short film that I want to copy into Premiere Pro 1.5 so I can make shome short clips for the web. I think there’s a way to view it on a TV screen, export it to tape into my DVX100A adn then Firewire it back into Premiere Pro.
Anyone know the procedure/settings to do this? Thanks – Raymond

Yes, you can hook a DVD plyer up to the composite input of your camera to capture to tape and then capture to Premiere from the camera.

Even though you are going to the web, you are starting with a highly compressed media and will compress it again to DV doing it that way. (not a pretty ending)

A better way would be using software like Tmpgenc Xpress to convert your DVD to uncompressed.
