Here is why it is slow. When you output to compressor from FCP, compressor ignores all render files and creates new ones that are more compatible with the output format. So, for instance, if you do a project and hit render, and it takes an hour to render, then compressor will take an hour to re-render, plus whatever time it taks to actually compress the video. If you export your movie as a self contained file, and bring that into compressor, the time will be much less.
However, I still agree using QT in FCP is much quicker.

The export is taken away, but can easily be put back in. Search the Apple message boards to see how to do it (I don’t recall how, but all my machines have had it restored).

Well, I know I can do it manually, it just takes a long time to go back and forth, back and forth. It would be great if there was a simple plg that did all the “rubber banding” of the audio volume, and normalized all the audio to the required level.
The compressor/limiter kind of does this, but like you said, it pumps the gain a bit.

To be honest, it’s been so long, I am unsure of which codec. These were made probably 5 years ago, and the Media Composers were old back then.
I did grab the meridian off of avids website, but no luck…

Definately ask for more dpecifics, but my first thought was that he wants a DVD with no menus that automaticall plays the video when put into the player.
This would be done by setting the track with your video as the “first play” item.
As for your mpegs, when you export to MPEG2, you will actually get a video file with an .m2v ectension, and an .aiff audio file. Bring both of these into DVD Studio (I assume thats what you are using), and place them in a track.

If I physicall drag a transition from the effects bin, it works fine. It is only the copy/past or alt drag that acts strange…..sometimes.

Now, now, don’t lie to the man. As someone who works in different studios, I can highly testify that Premiere is about the least stable program I have ever used. That said I love AE and PS!
