It’s Windows 7, I believe it is an XPS 7100 series (or something similar…..it is huge, ugly and weighs about 4 tons 🙂
I have no idea on the drivers, nor do I even know how to find out. PPro CS4.

Slight update. Even if the images aren’t put on a track above the video it still does the same thing. Basically, if there is Matrox captured video in the timeline at all, the issue comes up. Very weird.
HELP!!

As the saying goes…..size doesn’t matter 🙂 I have tried images of various sizes, video clips, etc. Anything that comes in new causes the issue. I created a copy of one of the timelines and removed the video from it. I then dragged the images into the empty timeline with the same settings, and there was no issue. It appears to happen only if the image or video is placed over the matrox captured video.

Another one that blew me away was Primatte. Again, once click and I got a near perfect key. No weird edge problems like with the built in keyer. It was AMAZING. Much like Ultimatte, the rendering was slooooooow. So slow that I decided to go back to the built-in to save time.
If you have time though, it is INCREDIBLE!

I shouldn’t make a difference. Where I have notice a difference is in the way you export it. If you export the final timeline as a self contained movie and bring that into compressor for exporting to your various formats, there will be more quality loss than if you export directly from FCP with compressor. In toticed the difference with animated items, but it does make a difference in video itself (just not as noticeable to a casual viewing.
I was told that this is because when exporting from FCP, compressor ignores your render files and re-renders the material directly in that output format. Whereas a self contained movie just converts what is already rendered. Your exports will take longer and tie up FCP, but it should make some difference.
Of course, going from HD to SD DVD has never looked very good to me, no matter how I export it 🙁

Ok, I figured out the problem thanks to some clues from all the posts. When you create a new menu, I didn’t realize that it does so by bringing in a black PSD file. It’s bizarre that by choosing new nenu that it does it that way without even asking!
I created a black PSD called HD, brought that in as a menu and added the motion.
Thanks for all the help.

Now when I try to build THE SAME PROJECT THAT WORKED EARLIER, it comes back with an error!
Blu-ray Error: “device error”, Code: “3”, Note: “File can not open.(/Volumes/Video Capture/Encore/La/LaAuthorScriptHDMVSessions/_PGC_Bpgc_Ctrk_1_audio.ac3.ves)-

I am fairly convinced that Encore is just the flakiest, most poorly-written software this side of Redmond, WA.
Now when I open the project, with NOTHING having changed, Encore wants to re-encode all my assets. I even checked all the settings and they are correct. AND if I click on an asset in the bin, it says “Don’t Transcode”……Nevermind, in the middle of writing this, it locked-up. When I re-opened, it was OK again. Just goes to prove my point about it being FLAKY!! I think I want my money back 🙁
