Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy FCP Question

First off, I don’t consider myself a novice, but I am sure this is just something I am overlooking.

One of the great features I love about FCP, and gripe about when I have to struggle with Premiere is the ability to copy custom transitions. For instance, if I use a dip to color, change it to white and set it for 15 frames, I can option drag it from one transition point to another…..sometimes. I also love that I can copy that transition and then paste it on as many transition points I want…..sometimes.

So, that said, my question is about the ‘sometimes’. Sometimes if I option drag a transition to a new point it doesn’t work. Instead of putting that transition on the new point, it will put a transition of about 1 or 2 frames (and yes, there is plenty of media on both heads and tails). Does anybody know why this doesn’t work……sometimes?

This is symptomatic of having handles only available on one side of the edit point.

Nah, it’s not. And I can completely vouch for it. Since version 4 the option drag of transitions has been severely buggy. Sometimes it just refuses. But then I can apply manually the exact same transiton.

    Exactly!

If I physicall drag a transition from the effects bin, it works fine. It is only the copy/past or alt drag that acts strange…..sometimes.

    Ditto here.
