Did you ever find a way of doing this? I never have any luck with Resolve syncing clips either and I will also have to do it manually.

Yep, it is very simple. Just double click the clip in the timeline and duration is displayed in the left hand (source) viewer. See attached.

Let me know if you ever find a solution to this. I did some training with a colour grader who suggested you get everything so it looks right in DR and then apply an additional preset that you have made to increase contrast and saturation to the whole timeline before exporting. It takes a bit of tweaking to get your file to look in Quicktime something like it did in Resolve before exporting it but I suppose it is a work around although it doesn’t seem particularly scientific. I still find video colour management a mysterious dark art despite spending hours and hours reading up on it. Coming from a stills background where all this colour management stuff was sorted out 10 years ago makes it particularly frustrating.

Hi, How do you edit with the proxies and the relink to the hi res files? The proxy files have a P after them which stops the files from relinking at least in Resolve anyway.

Thanks Ray for doing all that work. At least I know now it’s not just me. I have found a work around until the issue is fixed by using Final Cut Pro X. Resolve does talk very nicely with FCPX so if I export an XML for FCPX, import that XML into FCPX I can then export another XML and import that into an application I use to hand off the AAF to my sound guy called X2Pro Audio Convert. https://x2pro.net With that application you can add handles as long as you want. I’ve just done a test just now with 20 second handles and he said it opened perfectly. It’s not perfect but it does work and it’s not nearly as complicated as it sounds.

Not that for project no. However, when I did my next project everything exported fine. I have no idea why there was a problem so I am none the wiser. I am sure it was something simple but I couldn’t get help from anywhere. It was very frustrating. I was on deadline so I had to do my own audio. Less than ideal so I don’t have any confidence in it yet.

Hi Laura, Did you ever get resolution to this problem of exporting to pro tools? I’ve just had a job that was on deadline and I couldn’t export to my audio guy so had to do it myself. He said when he opened in protools he kept getting 4 layers of audio but nothing was in it. Just wondered if you found a solution. Randy

Thanks Matt, I wondered as much. It always looks so much better in Resolve. I’d love to work out how to get it all to look the same across the applications. I’ll keep investigating. Thanks for the reply.
