Gamma shift from Davinci Resolve to Export
When I color in Davinci Resolve 12.5.5 the color looks great but when I export and view it in quicktime, there’s a gamma shift and the color looks desaturated. I’m using a calibrated monitor. The gamma shift is still there when I upload a video to Vimeo or Youtube and the shift still appears when I view the video on a different computer.
Does anyone know why this is happening or how I could fix this?

1. strip quicktime gamma tag with atom tag removal software JES Extensify, then Color settings and tick allow changes. Remove both the Ganma and Color. Goto Manual and then press update to apply the changes. or.. use vlc with opengl to match gamma.
2. set gfx card from 16-235 to 0-255
3 youtube click re-touch panel, don’t save it after the retouch then cancel, it will transform it from 16-235 to 0-255. it will fix the colors in a few hours. -

Sadly, it doesn’t look like Extensfy is available on the net anymore, since the software developer has vanished. Anybody know where this might be? -
Ok, I removed both the Gamma and color with JES Extensify and it looks great in quicktime 7 and VLC, but still looks washed out in QuickTime Pro and online.
Also how do I set my gfx card to 0-255. I don’t have a NVIDIA card, my Mac has an AMD FirePro D700 graphics card.

perhaps the newest version of extensify works with pro?? I’ll have to find it. did you do step 3 and click “retouch” in youtube and then cancel?
if that is still not working, I made a reverse lut that has worked for a lot of people that will make the image temporarily darker, then youtube lightens it again.fixmyyoutube lut download

Let me know if you ever find a solution to this. I did some training with a colour grader who suggested you get everything so it looks right in DR and then apply an additional preset that you have made to increase contrast and saturation to the whole timeline before exporting. It takes a bit of tweaking to get your file to look in Quicktime something like it did in Resolve before exporting it but I suppose it is a work around although it doesn’t seem particularly scientific. I still find video colour management a mysterious dark art despite spending hours and hours reading up on it. Coming from a stills background where all this colour management stuff was sorted out 10 years ago makes it particularly frustrating.
