    thanks for your responses.

I have had all the codecs installed from divx 4 – 6.2 over the years. Also ffdshow. Been using vegas since version 4….The program simply doesn’t work with divx. Sometimes I get video, it crashes, sometimes just audio…I’m trying this simple little editing program which works flawlessly with divx so something is just not right with the way vegas handles divx. if I can play divx, then the correct codecs are installed no? I’m playing all iterations of divx flawlessy on all of my 5 computers yet it won’t work in Vegas ? me thinks its vegas…

as for your comment jeditdv re the displaying the setting properly, I’m at a total loss on your comments…If I select a preset, close the window and go back in, I want it to read the preset I selected…I mean how on earth can you figure it makes sense to say untitled ? It should read the current preset its on…i guess if you change a preset and don’t save it with a different name, then it should say untitled…since I suspect none of this is convincing for you, I can email you a project which a chain of effects, they will all read “untitled” and you won’t know whats what – correct ? or I’m I missing something because logically, they way they do this is incorrect….

    cheers

    Thanks for all the responses

Yes, I do have a velocity envelope so I suspect that is the problem.
I guess the tedious work around is to re render the velocity clips as separate clips and remove
the envelope from the big 18 gig file. Never had this problem with opacity adjustments…

hopefully this bug will get resolved, surprised I haven’t seen it before…

    regards

Okay so I’m not missing anything.
As for the programmers perspective, I’m still at a loss. If the settings match a preset, the box should read that preset – full stop.
If the settings are modified and not saved, then untitled. If modified to users saved setting – then that title the user gave it !!!
I mean you can take a sound fx in a chain, set it, go to the next one in the chain, then back one and it reads untitled…but you just set it to a preset 2 seconds earlier….I always brag about how good vv is…perhaps a microsoft programmer got in there and is responsible for this because this microsoftonian….

    thanks for the repsonses…

one thing though, I don’t think you understand one part so I will try to explain it better.
Lets say we are playing from the timeline. I jump far ahead – to another scene and the cursor is no longer visible but its still playing…If you want to jump the cursor to that far ahead spot, how do you do it ??
If you hit stop / enter, you jump back to that point…

    cheers…

  • Hi

thanks for the response… I installed the codec and there is now a second mp3 tab with the higher data rates…however, it still crashes !!!! Both with xvid and divx. On my win2k build I was able to encode no problem at higher bit rates…with xp, no dice

not sure what else to try as this is 2 codecs tried now, lame and your suggestion…
