  • 8.1 – no divx support ?

Posted by Randall Clarke on October 20, 2008 at 3:13 am

Just installed the 64 bit 8.1 version. I have lost the ability to import divx video (stream attibutes could not be determined error). I reinstalled the latest FFDSHOW codec pack to no avail. It worked with 8.0c last week

I have never gotten a definitive answer as to why divx and encoding of larger data rate mp3’s support has come and gone in my years with vegas (since version 4) works when it works but it seems to be a strange mix. Can anyone shed some light ?

    Best Regards,
    Randall

If you have DivX Pro installed, i think that may put an end
    to the problem.

I have Vegas 6.0D, Vegas 8.0c and 8.1(x64) installed on my computer(I am in transition 🙂 ). I am trying out the DivX codec6.8.5 (trial).

Under “Render As” I select AVI, then click the “custom …” button. In the “Video Format” drop down, I can select “DivX® 6.8.5 Codec (4Logical CPUs)” inside Vegas 6.0D, and Vegas 8.0C, but NOT Vegas 8.1.

Is there something I’m not doing right?

    From the DivX FAQ:

Good things come to those who wait!!
DivX is now fully functional for Windows Vista.

Please note that we currently do not support 64 bit.

Thank you. I read that too, but assumed it meant 64-bit Vista (not compatible, but will work kinda thing). I didn’t think about it meaning 64-bit Vegas. 🙂 It this because DivX doesn’t have a 64-bit DLL or because Vegas can’t access 32-bit DLLs?

    Thanks again sir.
