Mp3 encoding – higher bit rates not available ??
Vegas 4. When rendering to divx I only have a maximum of 56 kbps / 24 khz data rate encoding for
mp3. I installed lame – has better encode rates but when I try to use that, the render fails…Would like to encode at
128 kps and 48 khz… can anyone tell me what is going wrong ?thanks

You’re using a “wrong” codec, which is limited.
I use “FHG Radium” mp3 codec beside xvid for low
bitrate works.
I found this mp3 codec some time ago on the net,
it was free, search on google for it.By(t)e

thanks for the response… I installed the codec and there is now a second mp3 tab with the higher data rates…however, it still crashes !!!! Both with xvid and divx. On my win2k build I was able to encode no problem at higher bit rates…with xp, no dice
not sure what else to try as this is 2 codecs tried now, lame and your suggestion…

I’m working on Win2k hungarian version, sp4 with all patches available, and Vegas 5.0a.
All I can tell you, that lame caused crashes for me too,
then I found radium fhg mp3 codec.
I completely removed lame, before I installed the radium.
(If something, this could make difference… or?)
After and since that everything works like a charm.
No crash, no bitrate limit, just work…If it’s something about XP, I can’t give any help, I don’t use
XP yet.Hope I could help.
