January 23, 2007 at 9:08 pmI hooked up my dsr 40 and voila! it works! Turns out that the panasonic deck I was trying to use has an actual problem. I hooked up another pany deck and…it works fine. These decks are temporary until my JVC’s arrive. So far out of 8 decks, only 2 work. I’ve tried going into every nook and cranny of the decks and can’t find any useful menu to do anything. I’m chalking it up to mechanical/electrical failure. I’m going onto panasonics website and have a look at the manual.

January 22, 2007 at 10:10 pmNo, there is nothing else. Graid is on FW800 and DV deck on 1394 port in front

January 22, 2007 at 9:17 pmThanks Shane,
I checked all those settings as you suggested. They are correct. I’m going do more obvious things like change out the deck, new FW cable (although if I can digitize, its ok) and try a dvcam dsr 25 which I know works cause it’s on my setup. This may be a dunb question but does it matter which FW port I use. I have the Graid2 on the FW 800 port in back and was connencted to the FW400 port in back. I moved it to the front but there isn’t any difference.
Thanks,

January 10, 2007 at 2:19 pmThanks guys, I keep jumping between “that other system” on PC and FCP. It’s hard to keep them straight.

January 9, 2007 at 2:42 pmWhat are your settings, is there a machine template for this unit? We’re suspecting that may have a bum FW card. While I’m not convinced our project settings are totally correct, no matter what we do the ntsc monitor isn’t stable during playback.

January 8, 2007 at 12:49 pmThe dsr 25 works perfectly with our FCP station, I’ll try this panasonic dv2000 but there’s no deck control. It’s more likely that some setting somewhere is amiss.

January 5, 2007 at 2:46 pmThat’s exactly how we have it hooked up. We have the drive hooked up one FW Port and the deck hooked up to the other. The deck we’re using is a sony dsr-25 dvcam deck. We’re hooked up to that via bnc cables to the monitor. We’re getting a picture but it is not stable. I’m poking around the interface for some set up menus to check but so far nothing is jumping out at me. It’s not that I’m inexperienced, I work in FCP and Avid, the interface on this is just different. We’re running version 6. Any help is always appreciated.

December 29, 2006 at 4:07 pmWillie,
I managed to do it! Who said old guys can’t do this stuff. Actually the dummy book was quite helpful. Thanks for the offer of help. I have another cut to fix, I may take you up on it. Have a happy new year and thanks again
