Hi Bob,

thanks for your input. I telephoned a little.
The corning cables do just 10Gb/s.
The problem is they get hot and after some time the connection gets unreliable.
So optical cable is no choice at the present moment.
Your Adapter possibility sounds quite good, because it is also 10Gb/s and cheaper,
perhaps more reliable too.

Yeah I thought it could be a two bay drive,
so just Raid0 is possible.

Hi folks,

first of all don’t work with a Raid in 0 level.
If it fails, the data is gone. Minimum is Raid 5 level, better Raid 6.
If the hardware of your Raid does not work properly, buy a new raid.
The most expensive raid is the best.

I would recommend the Atto ExpressSAS®™ R680 – 8 External 6Gb SAS ports.
I believe you have PCIx 2.0.
in case you have PCIx 3.0 it would be the Atto ExpressSAS®™ H1280 – 8 External 12Gb SAS ports

Hi jeanke,

if your card has died, you just replace it, and your external SAS Raid will appear.
You can still use it, when it is in proper working condition.
You just need a new SAS card, like the one Bob has mentioned.
What proavio raid do you use?

You need roundabout real 450-500 MB/s speed, especially if you work with 4k..

Hi Fabrizio,

TB 2 is fine.
You need a raid array with a minimum of Raid5 level, better Raid6.
A two bay raid won’t give you this.
You need at least a 4bay Raid.
The 6bay is ideal – also with 4k in mind.

What is your raid connection?
Do you have a thunderbolt connection within your computer?

Bob is right,

you need an array with more space.
It is also the most cost effective way.
I’ve never regretted to most expensive solutions.
