internal raids are not very reliable. They get too hot. Did you do a raid 5 raid or raid0. If you did A RAID 0 the data is gone. There is a software called techtool pro. It can localize your issue.

Hi John,
you have to use Pro res (no HQ) compressor HD. Don’t change the timeline settings. The HDcam material and I think the DVCPro material will turn green in the timeline. It means you have to render, but only in the end a little. It depends on your Mac. The only other way is to capture over a deck, which you probably don’t have, because you would need two or one and leave the other untouched.
Tell me whether this works.

I would use colour, but only when you have got monitoring with colour. Coulor works in 4:4:4, so its the best choice.
Otherwise I would use colorista (Magic bullet), which is a very good tool, the looks are great.
If you haven’t got colorista, go with FCP colour correction together with procamp filter.
Use Proc amp first, then 3Way coulor correction.I hope this helps

It’s not The HDcam. I would do the whole job in 4:4:4 then produce a QT. After that I would change the Colour space to 4:2:2. Then I would make a correction for the whole show. You have to do one correction which lasts the whole show.

you should get your head into it: I do all grphics (Logos, Titles) in Motion and they look great, much better than in FCP.
First of all you export the filmbit you need the logo in as QT movie in your Timeline format. You open Motion and import the QT. You import your logo. You have to know how long you want to see the logo.
You drag the logo into the Motion TL. Now you can start to move it.
Perhaps you should do the tutorial of Motion first.Good luck

May be its better to export the scene into motion and do the logoanimation there.
The logo in PS exists probably with all the PS layers. I think there’s the problem. To me Motion is the better toll to animate logos.
When you finished in Motion just export the Film as a QT in your Codec, you are using back to FCP.Rainer

The mac is fine,
you just need 8 GB Ram (4×2) leave the 4 banks open, just in case you work with Motion or After effects.
You need a good capture card such as Aja (my first choice LHI) or decklink. You need a good monitor (SD/HD LCD Panasonic or similar), a small sound mixing device and good or very good speakers (Genelec or similar) My choice would be Yamaha MSP5.
Don’t go for an internal raid. The raid gets hot inside and lasts when you work 12 hours a day with it approx. 4-5 years.
Go for an external fibrechannel raid. I know this is expensive, but what I’ve learned out of my experience is: I’ve never regretted the most expensive things I’m working with.I hope this helps

I tend to leave the original files untouched.
We’re working with P2 files since 6 years now, all the process is nearly tapeless, never had problems, never lost a file.
Important is double back up on raid5 miniraids.
So we archive the original data (P2 untouched) on a raid5 miniraid and the unwrapped QT file on another raid5 miniraid. We have always a spare HD for each miniraid plus the customer gets the QT files on a HD for their internal storage.
I can recommend this workflow strongly!
During shooting all the material gets copied on two seperate HD discs before deleting the cards.I hope this helps

I would suggest an Aja Kona lhe.
But it is noct cheap either.
