First of all,
what esata cards are you using inside yout Mac Pro, and how many esata outputs are on each card. What internal slots (inside MacPro) do you use (4x,8x,16x). Are the esata cards on two seperate slots?Rainer

Hi Neil,
sometimes it rebuilds itsself, sometimes you have to press one of the buttons on the back to confirm.
First of all: You seem to be on Raid 5, so save your data. What you just can try is to swap drives and do a total rebuild on Raid 5 (How you do this is documented in the Raid manual). In our case we had a controller failure and it didn’t matter which Harddisc we used, the failure was always with slot 3. So it was clear to me that we would need a new chassis. Sonnet replaced it without asking.
It could also be just a bad Harddisc. Replace it when its switched on (Hot-swap) and confirm with one of the two buttons on the back. Then it will start rebuilding. It says this on the small display above the buttons.Cheers

Whow, 500 bucks for mini SAS sounds to me like a bargain. I don’t know anything about this raid. Is there a controller card with it? I doubt it. We work with a sonnet R800 flawlessly for years. Raid card comes with it. Drives are Hitachis Ultrastars.
But it doesn’t come for 500 Bucks.
This is just my shared experience. I just want to learn. I don’t say that this SAS enclosure is bad choice. I just doesn’t know anything about it.Cheers

This might be my general problem. I smile back, but your smile is brighter. My problem should be posted in a psychological forum.
But could it be that this might be the problem? That data is interpreted wrongly?

But how do you get a green/blue light with an intact/corrupt harddisc ?
I think, with an internal controller. Also fans and temerature? How do you get this data? There must be an internal controller.Rainer

There is a controller in the G-Tech!

From the data point of view I’m totally with Bob. But the system should work on Raid 0 as well, when the hardware is intact.
