Transcode to Prores 422 (no HQ, no LT).
Edit on a Prores p24 sequence. The XDCAM stuff will work well on the sequence (before exporting don’t forget to set “Render all in High Precision”.
The Canon HV30 should be de-interlaced and retimed to p24 in Compressor.
THe same with the 720p60 stuff. Upscaled and retimed in Compressor.
Always to Prores.

Have a look to QT.7 Preferences, and see is is checked the window “Allow Final Cut Pro Color Compatibility”. In case is checked, uncheck it.
You haven’t mentioned your System, so in case you don’t have QT.7 installed, install it.

When you use the MM, a new FC Project is created.
That’s the one you have to open now.
It should have all the managed media under control.

Again, no.
The standard for MEPG-2 DVD compliant do not define the field order.
Make an MPEG-2 Upper first and open with MPGStreamclip the “Stream Info” window. The application will identify the file as Upper and will be read as Upper.
And if you convert it to QT you have to check it as upper and you will get an Upper .mov.

Is dificult to know the reason of some FC glitches.
Refresh the preferences (https://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/)
and don’t try to import these files to FC. Mpges, Mp4 and so are not supported and can cause any kind of funny effect.

All that is normal.
I know well the blur on panning because I use an EX-1, and that blur is a result of the codec. Is very compressed and the only way to avoid artifacts at that data-rate with everything on the frame moving is adding some blur. The only way to avoid it is increasing data rate. That’s why I bough long ago a NANO-flash for my Ex-1.Nothing of what you are seen is wrong. That’s p25. Is very close to film (p24). The picture looks always more choppy and movement less smooth.

That’s a myth Dave.
I make my DVDs (PAL land) Lower when the source is Lower (DV) and Upper when the source is HD.
In NTSC land many people think that DVDs are only Lower because most of your SD sources (DV, Uncompressed) are Lwer.
In PAL-land SD Uncompressed is Upper, when that is your source, DVs are made Upper.
I’ve found as well few Hollywood movies DVDs being Upper.
