A BIT is a single digit and can have only two values: 0 or 1.
A BYTE is a word of 8 BITS, and you can get 256 different values.

I think that if you want to reduce the size of your project, the Media manager is the only solution. Anyway I do not understand why your sound studio ask for the full FC project. I’ve sent few times audio to mixed and allways they had been happy with a OMF and a small format QT movie to have a visual refference. You can also export “Audio as AIFF(s). Like that you get every channel of your time-line exported as a .aiff and they can be manipulated the same than with a OMF. The only problem is that instead of exporting just the audio clips that you get in your time-line, export the full audio track, even if there is not audio. I guess (I’ve never tried this option) can make the files bigger.

Sorry, when I mentined Stib De-interlacer I was meaning “TooMuchTooSoon” Smart De-interlacer a free plugin that work great when sets at 100 Motion sensitivity.

Graeme Nattress is my favorite video-guru. Have a look to his web-site, or make him the quetion. Nattress is a very nice guy really willing to help the people with their quetions. If his plugin do not work for your purpose he will tell you strait away. Honest guy.

QT do not support interlaced small films (web-like), so if you do not de-interlace, QT will bad-de-interlace for you. Finish your film and export it interlaced (upper-first if 10b Unc). Re-import it to FC and set it in a 10b Unc sequence but set the field order to NONE. Them drop any of the de-interlacer plugins. I use Nattress or Stibs (this works fine at 100%). You can do the de-interlacing when exporting to the web with Compressor, Squeeze or Cleaner but I preffer to do it in FC.

Couldn’t be a matter of the audio signal? BetacamSP works with analog audio and Digi-Beta is digital? I think the RS-422 only control the desk and carry TC.

The only monitoring option you got in the BM HD is the HD/SD-SDI out. The problem is that when you set FC to Video play-back: Blackmagic, the Mac’s audio out gets disable. With a BM SD you got analog audio-out through XLR but not in the BM HD.

If they gonna broadcast Digi-beta, give them 8 or 10b uncompressed. If you can not print it to video because you have not a Digi-Beta desk, you can give then the file in a data-DVD. As long as you are talking about a commercial you don’t gonna get a too big file even with those standard. Then they can print to Didi-Beta or whatever other format and you will spend only few cents for the disk.

I haven’t tried it Carlos. Some times I have to convert some clips and them I use Compressor or Shake. But if I would need to transfer a bunch of clips I wouldn’t hessitate one minute. There is an article of Marco Solrio in The Cow: Nattress Standart Converter Plugin. Have a look and decide by yourself.
