So just give 10 more frames duration to the new clip, and short it later.

Are you running regulary Diskwarrior or Techtools?
Whenever I get troubles with FC I start for making sure that my system is OK. The last thing I do is to trash the prefs. I even re-install FC before to do that.

If you want SD PAL 4×3 you should set your AE composition D1/DV 720×576. Those are NOT square pixels.
Then you got two possibilities for your PHS graphics:
    – Make your graphics 768×576 and, in AE, set “Interprete footage” to SQUARE PIXELS.
-Make your graphics 768×576. Before to export to AE change the size to 720×576. Import to AE and set Interprete footage” to D1/DV Pixels.
like that they will be OK.
The same process you have to do when making 16×9 graphics, but instead of “768” set “1024”. And choose PAL D1/DV Widescreen 720×576 in the composition and in the “Interprete footage”.

    Hi Rick,
You have to use the function “Paste Atributes”. If you have animated some parameters (transparency, crop, motion..) in a clip you can translate the same key-frames to other clip in two fashions:
    – One that translate the k-frames in the same position of the original clip.
    – Other that distribute those k-frames to adapt to the lenth of the new clip. I think this is the method that you are looking for , so you do not have to set by hand each k-frame to the new position.
    To “Paste atributes”
    – click the clip that got the k-frames you want to pass to the other clips. Then COPY (com-c).
    – Click the clip where you want to paste the atributes and click option-v. You will get a window where you can select the atributes to paste.
In the top there is a little box: Scale Atributes Time.
If you let it checked, the k-frames will be spread along the new clip.
If you uncheck it you will get the same k-frames of the original clip.
    Hope you understand my English.
    Cheers,
    Rafael

June 3, 2007 at 5:17 pm in reply to: shake newbie asks, is this workflow correct?

I tried few things. Changing the name, seting the extension (.mov). No way. The curious thing is, as I told you, only with the Apple 8bUnc. The rest OK.
Just to ad something about Shake. f you don’t set the field order in the “Source” and in the Global>”Render”, this doesn’t mean that you will get a progresive movie comming out of Shake. If you want a progresive movie you have to do it with “Remap”, “Convert” or the Deinterlacing node. And to do it you have to set the field order in Source and Rendering control to OFF.
Ther are many effects that don’t need to set the field order and field rendering. For example if you make a color correction you will have not problem. The changes are done in a frame basis s ther is not difference beteen on field and the other. The transformation in the two fields is the same.
But when you are moving something in the screen the field order need to be the correct one because the transformation sufferd by the two fields are different. They must be processed in a certain order. If no, what you will get from your File-out will look very bad.
Well now a go to sleep. I’f tomorrow i see something that can helps you I’ll post it.
    cheers,
    rafael

June 3, 2007 at 3:40 pm in reply to: TV quality vs CPU screen quality

    Hi,
If the film doesn’t show problems in the TV, them you don’t have to worry about interlacing. Trust your TV better than your computer screen.
About the quality of the picture you should have a look to the Nattress “Chroma Sharpening”. Your blue-screen will thanks you.
    Cheers,
    rafael
