  • Hi-

That is the case but, weirdly, they are online in the bins. Just offline with no path in the sequence. If I trash my thumbnail cache will I lose all of the thumbnails in the bins and the sequence? That may be more inconvenient than just re-linking the offline clips manually using “locate.” It’s a pain for sure but I do like having those thumbnails.

Thanks so much for all of your help.

  • Hi-

Do you mean “reconnect media?” I’m not sure how to get to a re-link media command. When I reconnect it doesn’t reveal any path for my offline items which is the problem.

    Thanks,
    Quinn

    Thanks Daniel,

I did a forum search and was unable find anything that dealt with this issue. Flummoxing.

Mostly it’s just simple moves on stills. Some of the stills were very large pict files (in excess of 20 mbs) and I’m replacing them with smaller 1 mb jpegs. That is certainly preventing me from crashing but not helping much with the render time.

Thanks for the advice. I have the NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT in this system. I was under the impression that was a pretty good card. Is that not the case?

    Thanks,

    Hi Jeremy –

Thanks for your help. I don’t see a place in compressor to adjust the quality but I do have the compression type set to Apple ProRes 422 (HQ.) Most of the material looks great but this problem occurs on about 1 in 10 clips.

The source material is all 59.94. Here is what reads in the Inspector window…

    File Extension: mov
    Estimated file size: 108.06 MB
    Audio: multi-track passthrough
    Video Encoder
    Format: QT
    Width: 1280
    Height: 720
    Pixel aspect ratio: Square
    Crop: None
    Padding: None
    Frame rate: 24
    Frame Controls: Automatically selected: Off
Codec Type: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
    Multi-pass: Off, frame reorder: Off
    Progressive
    Chroma filtering enabled
    Pixel depth: 24
    Spatial quality: 50
    Min. Spatial quality: 0
    Temporal quality: 0

Wow! Alright, we’ll give that a try. Unfortunately I’m leaving on vacation but I promise to write back as soon as I’ve tried your test. Thanks for the response.

    Thanks for the response-

I’m assuming I should capture using the straight up HDV codec in the FCP Audio/Video settings.

Do you recommend re-capturing to the ProRes codec after I’m all finished or just leave it? Thanks so much for helping me work through this.
