Hehe, is my face red! 🙂 I’m a Flash Developer usually, so forgive me for my unknowingness! But thank you tons for pointing me in the right direction!

I’m trying it out right now and it looks good… AAC and .mp4, just what I wanted.

    Kind regards,
    Pieter

Thanks again for a quick response Daniel. I played around with the codecs a little but couldn’t get it quite right, so I decided to download some High Def trailers/gameplay videos from another video game and am going to go to work on those. Since it’s just for academic purposes, I doubt I’ll get into any trouble 🙂

    Kind regards,
    Pieter

Hello Daniel, thank you for a very fast and excellent reply.

I would be recording onto an external USB2 Hard Drive with a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbits/s. The games will be Role-Playing Games but with some rather detailed spell effects, so I’m guessing it’s more in the line of the detailed shooters/races.

I’m going to try to record on 800×600 at 25 or 30 frames per second then, hopefully that’ll be fine.

Which other codecs would you suggest then? Because the ZD Soft website also has a page with more codecs on it:
    https://www.zdsoft.com/more-codecs.html

Once again, thanks a lot for the fast reply.

    Kind regards,
    Pieter

According to the Youtube Help Center, you can upload using any of these 4 formats: .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG

I myself, would go with either .MOV or .MPG.

Furthermore, best results are obtained by rendering your video with these settings:
    – MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
    – 320×240 resolution
    – MP3 audio
    – 30 frames per second

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Pieter

Heh, we’ve already solved it using Blend modes (Darken) 🙂 The result’s not bad and it’s far more easy than getting the outline of the hand.

Hello Dave, thank you for your reply. I had some trouble doing it your way. I’m rather new to After Effects, however, I did find out about the Color Stabilizer effect that does just what I want 🙂

For anyone else with this problem, the effect only comes with the Pro version, and there are also a few plugins around, namely Tinderbox DeFlicker (Tinderbox 1) and GBDeFlicker.
