“When using twixtor to convert frame rate does it result in a change in speed also?”

As Pete said but will repeat with different words so it’s real clear,

    in FCP 6/7:

the frame rate is effectively controlled by the application settings – the rate at which the video will playback after you render it, X frames per second.

if the original source movie FPS does not match the output FPS of FCP then FCP will skip or double some frames on input. To avoid that you need the Cinema Tools workaround to have the source movie and the output at the same FPS to start. When doing so, the original action is now played slower/faster – and sound would not be synched anymore.

Then you use Twixtor to generate as many frames as you want. Some people use it just to frame rate convert, after the conform step, then you undo it with twixtor (e.g. 30 to 24P, after cinema tools the 30 frames would play slower in 24P timeline, then twixtor 1.25X speed (30/24) will give 24 different frames equally distant in time which might be a better look then reverse telecine sort of thing).

September 12, 2011 at 9:17 pm in reply to: Twixtor Rendering Seems To Freeze PP CS5.5

    “never change the in-point on a clip”…

Actually this is fixed in CS5.5, changing the in-point in Premiere now does not slide the end retime result…

    “PP is freezing”

In CS5.0 I think there was an issue with some formats like MXF causing a Premiere error internally the way Twixtor calls for images. This has also been fixed in CS5.5

Yes it looks different — and you are not alone with that problem
I wrote to them again today, if you have some “5 frames” sequence (rgba and velocity pass) bring it on (use the contact form https://revisionfx.com/support/contact/ to get an ftp download area if needed – and then tell us where it is).

All I know is it is not scaled so there is negative motion in the image so it will work only in 32b but there seems to be a larger problem from my earlier tests.

What is good to trouble shoot is 1 frames static – no motion, and then a simple object like a cube like moving 20 pixels in X per frame and 10 in y per frame or something like that.

I assume the movie is actually 59.94 not 60 FPS (if so the value in Twixtor for Input FPS should be 59.94). It shows as 59.94 in the project bin…
And I assume your comp is something else, e.g. 29.97 or 25 yes? and the rate you are rendering to?

Would be best you simply enter your email here:
    https://revisionfx.com/support/contact/
And the automatic response will send you info on how to upload an example (with your AE project) so we can look at it

If you are using FCP, you should definitively use the Cinema Tools workflow for the 60P you want to slowmo to get best possible results
