Can you use the Velocity pass from a Maya vray render with RSMB? We used the 2d Motion Vector pass in mental ray on a previous project but will be rendering in vray on this job. The velocity pass looks different than the Motion Vector Pass.

Yes it looks different — and you are not alone with that problem
I wrote to them again today, if you have some “5 frames” sequence (rgba and velocity pass) bring it on (use the contact form https://revisionfx.com/support/contact/ to get an ftp download area if needed – and then tell us where it is).

All I know is it is not scaled so there is negative motion in the image so it will work only in 32b but there seems to be a larger problem from my earlier tests.

What is good to trouble shoot is 1 frames static – no motion, and then a simple object like a cube like moving 20 pixels in X per frame and 10 in y per frame or something like that.
