    OOOOPS!
    Sorry.
    Never mind… I found it.
I guess it helps to read a little on such a big update.

    “log and transfer”

  • I didn’t realize you were in Chicago.
    Love that town.

  • Thanks Gary.
Yeah Plaster City is top notch.

I actually just found out moments ago that they’re going to be using some footage that I shot on the Viper Filmstream for a demonstration at HD-Expo in Chicago this weekend. Apparently it’s going to be projected with the new Sony 4K projector. Wish I could be there.

Anyway, Michael said the same thing you did. Maybe CC in HD-CAM SR but it may very difficult to tell the difference vs. cost of regular HD-CAM
I’m going to go down there a SEE the difference.

    best,
    Michael

  • One more thing.

What about the possibility of finishing on film?
Costs and Benefits? The piece would take on the characteristics of the film itself right?

I know it’s subjective but what would look the ‘best’?
Film or HD-CAM or native DVCPRO-HD

ahhh yeah, that does make sense.
Is there a way to convert h264 to quicktime (after downloading) while still maintaining the quality so I can play it through Kona TV on my big monitor?

Strange that AJA Kona TV will allow me to open up and play (for instance) a 720p trailer downloaded from the apple website (1280X544, H.264,AAC).

But won’t play that same piece simultaneously through HD-SDI to my big monitor.
(I just get green shaky bars and interference).

It’s almost like the right format under “display” isn’t there? But I’ve tried them all.

    wow. I love this application.
So the new Final Cut Pro Studio 2 supports H264 correct?

I figured out what it is.
In the “Kona 3 Control Panel” under “Default Output” I had it on input passthrough.
I changed it back to “hold last application”.
    It’s working again.
    thanks

May 29, 2007 at 4:01 am in reply to: How much drive space do I need for 10 tapes

I’m not sure the deck model.
    But I know it’s DVC-PRO HD/Panasonic and has a firewire out.
I don’t need to capture “uncompressed” as my drives are only FW 800
