Curious about the 1080i (only) capture via sdi.
When I remove the pulldown cinematools to get 24p will this look as if it was done in camera?
Will the quality be the same ? Other than a little extra time are there any other downsides to converting to 24p after ingest?

So I’d be bypassing the 35mbps Sony codec which is good.

I could go with DVCPRO HD (100mbps) which would be just like the HVX-200 correct?

Or I could go with ProResHQ. If I go with ProRes HQ what is the recording bandwidth and would there be any advantages lets say over DVCPRO-HD in contrast ratio, signal to noise ratio ect… ?

Costs $29.00 bucks and I was happy to pay it as it repaired 2.5 TB of “public atom error” P2 media in less than 5 minutes. Perfectly.

Apple refuses to admit their fault in this matter.

Yes. Go to the imagine products website and download the “FIX” that Apple should have included in their update in quicktime. Apple dropped the ball on this one big time.

Yes I have heard of this… that person could’ve been me.

All of my P2 footage which was brought in via FCP 5 will open in Final Cut 6 (due to the quicktime 7.3 upgrade, or Leopard, or both) ? I think it’s the new quicktime.

The original MXF file “masters” from the P2 are fine. It’s just the thousands of converted quicktime clips that have already been converted to quicktime via FCP that will not open.

The clips that are ALREADY IN A TIMELINE seem to playback OK (with in the timeline). However, if I try and double click on that same clip in FCP’s browser then I get a “general error” message.

If I go to that same clip again (only directly on the drive” then I get a different error.
Something having to do with “public atom….”.

Apple Pro Support request that I send them a sample file, which I did… haven’t heard back from them.

My gut is that there has been a pretty big fudge with these new apple updates.

Same scenario… except I think that I brought this P2 footage in through FCP.
Have you figured out how to deal with it?

I can’t erase anything on my disk though… I can “re install” but that’s not the same is it?
