In this case the material was only available on DVD.
Say I will receive in the future a NTSC avi file and export that in Elements or Pro to PAL AVI will that cause also a degradation when I put that PAL AVI on tape to a PAL camera?Phocas Kroon

If you make for each project a folder for project file and media files I don’t see your problem with the blessed folders.

Your camera has a digital (fire wire) in/output to connect the camera with the PC for capturing and putting back the movie on tape.
There is also an analog output to connect your camera to a TV set to show the movie on TV. This is a cable with yellow (video) and red and white (stereo audio) plugs. If your TV has only yellow (video) and white, there is no stereo sound. You can connect red and white to an separate amplifier to monitor stereo sound.During editing the the result will be sent by the PC via fire wire to the camera when you play the timeline.
The camera send the picture and sound to the TV set via the analog output of the camera.I hope it is clear for you now

The motion depends on how different the pictures are between each other and how long they are shown (f.e. a picture lenght between 2-12 frames)

Have you rendered first before you play the timeline?

If you have a DV camera with analog input, play the DVD to the camera and capture via the fire wire output of the camera.
You can also use Adobe Premiere Elements and edit the mpeg files.Good luck

Before you put the stills on the timeline:
Edit>Preferences>General
Fill in the number of frames at “Still Image Default Duration”Good luck
