  • Peta,
I have experienced this as well.
What works most of the time, sorry no guarantee here, is to export the file out as a qt (NOT using the qt conversion) then import the file, follow walters steps.

Also, another thing I have noticed is when you follow Walters steps make sure everything in your timeline has been rendered, then add the broadcast safe filters. This has also worked for me.

  • Walter,
    VERY HELPFUL!
when’s the next colour DVD coming out?

  • You’re welcome, however…
    Don’t thank me, thank Walter.
I subscribe to Walter’s blog and would highly suggest it to anyone working in FCP, alot of good info there

  • Peta,
This link is from Biscardi’s blog from his website. These steps will help you to ensure true broadcast safe from FCP.

I follow this for the broadcast shows I edit / produce, it works.

    Rafael,
    Thanks for the reply.
Again, the footage was shot in HDV (JVC camera) captured to DVCPRO 720p, edited in DVCPRO 720p
I’m finished with the edit (all fx’s, filters, etc…) I now need to export one file for delivery. PRORES HQ was asked for preferably however, I read on a different thread that unless you are working with 2k files PRORES HQ is essentially overkill.
And if I’m reading Walter Biscardi’s reply correctly he agrees that PRORES HQ would be overkill and he works in PRORES.
I was not going to render out to anything less then PRORES (i.e. DVCPRO, HDV,)

    Gary,
Thanks. I guess that’s why I could not find it here on the Cow.
    Thanks again.

    Shane,
Thanks for the reply. We are currently using a FedExNet or sneakernet system (mailing hard drives)
I was looking into a remote option for a client who would like all parties to be able to see and use the footage and what has been edited. I realize that due to file size / bandwidth this is a huge undertaking with HD footage.

    Thanks.

    Jim,
Perfect. That’s the type of info I’m looking for especially about the .75 wide angle lens adapter.
Also, I did not know that there was a hood / filter holder for the century optics lens, thanks.
    Thanks for the insight.
