I have a friend who might be able to acquire the filter for me. Problem is that he thinks he’ll only be able to get the PC version while I’m on a Mac workstation here. Would it be compatible?

Thanks John for those tips. Anyway to preview video and audio at the same time? Also, when I control+click and hold, After Effects plays around maybe 1/2 a second of audio from my playhead and loops it until I let go of the buttons. Anyway to extend this looping period?
In the preview section it mentions audio preview for base 30. I tried increasing it but it has no effect on this looping part. Does it even relate? If so, maybe I somehow need to adjust it for base 30 drop frame? How do I do so?

OMG!!! Finally, I’ve encountered someone who’s facing the same problem I’ve been having for the past 6 months.
I have a PAL timeline and I imported my audio mix from my sound guy. It’s perfectly synced on his system to a compressed video that I gave him. When I put the audio into my timeline (one hour episode), and I view the audio in my viewer window, my playhead is totally off. E.g.: in the main part of the Viewer window i scrub to the ‘end’ of the audio clip but if I look in the Viewer’s timeline bar (the white strip near the bottom), it’s only about 85% into my audio length).
The best bet to experience this is to grab a one hour AIFF and drag it into a PAL timeline and scrub around. It’ll be ‘on sync’ at the beginning but off sync near the end. The PAL audio was created from a proper Pro Tools session. He also exported the audio to DA-88 tapes with no problems at 25 fps.
I’m from Toronto, Canada (NTSC) incase that’s an issue. I’ve been having lots of troubles with using “PAL” audio files in Final Cut. Have you been able to find any solution? Does the ‘switching’ presets fix the issue? I’ll try when my FCP suite becomes available.

All audio is at 48 KHz. But i’m still exporting from a Final Cut Pro timeline that contains multiple edits/cuts. Even if I use just a slug, the length of the file ITSELF changes by a significant amount.

I’ve looked at his timeline.
I’ve even made a new timeline and threw in some random songs on my hard drive. I set in/out to 46:50 in total. When I bring the AIFF back into FCP (not necessarily putting it into a timeline), FCP shows it as 46:52;25. Everything’s being done in dropframe (my timeline, his timeline, test timeline).
P.S. Text size on my monitor is small, hard to decipher between ; and : =P

I’m not in the studio right now, but what I sort of tried that. I have a Quicktime 10-bit preset export of the NTSC timeline for D-Beta transfer. I put that QT file into the PAL timeline. I put the video on the lowest track and made it invisible, so the audio playing would be from the 10-bit NTSC video file while the video showing would be the native PAL video clip. The audio was still short. I applied the conversions filter using both basic conversion and external sync, still was too short :(.
BUT I didn’t actually delete the video clip (leaving the audio behind). I’ll try that when I get in.
Any other solutions?

Using the Nattress filter is a very cumbersome method if there’s alot of clips involved (my situation). But I guess I have no other option right now….

are there any other solutions? it looked like a very cumbersome method of using the filter. how is it applied? if i purchase it, how soon do i get it? i need to fix this problem asap/now.
