WOW!!@ Thanks so much for that info!! Never occured to me that QT Ref’s could be used in AFX, Taht’s awesome. Thx for opening my eyes to that.
I’ve had lots of troubles with AFX Compositions w/ Alphas and importing them into Avid ‘properly’. Thanks for your outline there too. Just one question: what do you mean by straight alpha? Is it an actual option “straight alpha”?

it’s still not opening. i’m not the one actualy doing it. i’m forwarding the instructions to my employer at the office and he’s having one of his assistants try the different methods out :S

From the PC, the saved file was around 3.3 MB. I don’t *think* we used any ‘unique’ filters :S.

I find i sometimes get an error when exporting, and it’s due to my render files. Don’t know exactly why, i think even though you can ‘see’ the render, the FCP file has lost the ‘link’ directing the timeline to the render. Trash your render files and re-render everything, that does the trick for me.

do you have Dvd Studio Pro? or iDVD?
how long is your project? looking to burn it onto single or dual layer dvd?

I forgot the name of the keyboard and the manufacturer, but a few months ago I read about the release of a keyboard with tiny liquid crystal displays on each key. It was simply on/off liquid crystals, similar to what you find in a digital wristwatch, but the resolution was pretty ‘decent’. I think this keyboard would be the best, due to the amount of shear amount of custom configuration one can do in Final Cut (down with Avid!). Has anybody else seen this keyboard?

Ah, didn’t think of that aspect. So I guess due to the analog nature of the box, 1:1 would be the best regardless of anything.
As a side question: with Avid hardware setups with Firewire input, would higher resolutions (e.g. 1:1) be pointless with low-resolution footage (e.g. Mini-DV)?
