March 28, 2006 at 8:47 pmI forgot the name of the keyboard and the manufacturer, but a few months ago I read about the release of a keyboard with tiny liquid crystal displays on each key. It was simply on/off liquid crystals, similar to what you find in a digital wristwatch, but the resolution was pretty ‘decent’. I think this keyboard would be the best, due to the amount of shear amount of custom configuration one can do in Final Cut (down with Avid!). Has anybody else seen this keyboard?

March 28, 2006 at 10:59 pmSpeaking of keyboards, I’ve got just the simple Apple FCP keyboard, and it’s close to 3.5 yrs old. It’s working fine, but it’s dirty as h*ll. I thought I remember hearing that with Apple’s usb keyboards you can stick them in the dishwasher (make sure it’s cold water) and clean it that way. I don’t have a dishwasher, does anyone have any tricks to cleaning them?

March 28, 2006 at 11:54 pmSince you don’t have a dishwasher, do you have a pressure washer? If not, just duct tape the keyboard to the roof of your car and go through a car wash.
Then when you buy your new keyboard you can use these ideas:

March 29, 2006 at 11:37 pmThe Optimus Keyboard is not shipping yet. Only its sibling the Optimus Mini Three was shown as new gear in the back of a recent PC Magazine. It’s a great idea, but I’m not sure they can bring down the manufacturing cost enough to make it feasible.
In lieu of a keyboard one could always go with a keyboard map like Final Cut Pro 4 Default Keyboard Set-up which is the one I like. It is more visually stimulating than the one found in FCP and is color keyed. Open the .PDF in Adobe Acrobat or Mac OS X Preview and you can do a search for terms like mark, edit, etc. and you will be taken to each key instance of the search term.
Inquiring minds…
