I placed a 3rd party filter in my plug-ins folder (the main Library/Application support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plug-ins folder) before launching FCP. When I go to Effects/Video Filters in FCP, the 3rd party filter does not appear. Why not? (According to the tutorial I am following in Kevin Mohahan’s fabulous “Motion Graphics and Effects in FCP, it should be there.) Thanks.

Check with https://www.fcpworld.com/ for versions of the book’s plugins that work.

I went to that site and I couldn’t download any of the plug-ins. I already have a copy of the plug-ins on the CD that comes with Monahan’s book and have copied the entire Telly’s effects folder to my hard drive’s plug-ins folder. As I mentioned, FCP is not recognizing them. Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks.

The plugins for the book were written by me. When they went to get put on the CD, some PC user broke them, hence Telly put them on his website for download so you can use them. I see he’s updated the site and I can no longer find the link, so I’ll email him and ask if he can help.

http://www.nattress.com also has some amazing filters, I highly recommend going to the site and buying every single plug-in… twice 🙂

Right Graeme, I just redesigned my site with iWeb. Which has its pluses and minuses so far.

Here is the URL to get to the Plug-ins Home Page:

The Web page with the plug-ins does not work if I go to the page through Safari. It works when I arrive there through Internet Explorer. In IE, however, once I put in the first password, I am not admitted because either the password is incorrect or I don’t have cookies enabled. I have checked the password (last word on the bottom of page 187 – what one holds onto when she picks something up) and tried all four cookie settings and still could not get it to work. Any further suggestions?
    I appreciate all your help.

I see what’s going on here.
There’s a typo on my webpage and the verbiage is backward.
    Sorry about that.

It’s the last word on pg. 279 to enter the vault.
It’s the last word on pg. 187 to unlock the plug-ins.

Try that. I just did. Turns out that I had to try twice to enter the vault.
If you need any more help, just let me know.

Thanks Kevin, I downloaded them easily. Your book rocks. I’m following it cover to cover.
