  • How to export individual tracks to OMF?

Hi, I need to finish exporting 27 audio tracks to OMF by the end of tonight. It’s too late at night to call my audio guy for the proper process, so helping you guys can help me out. I believe he wanted each seperate track to be it’s own individual OMF file. So, to do this, do I set my in/out points, then turn off every audio track except the one I want? Some sounds are from camera (stereo = two tracks) and others are simple sound effects that take up one track. Should I be leaving two tracks turned on for each OMF export? I’m so lost. If someone could walk me through, that’d be great.

I think for a previous project, the online editor exported seperate OMF. I’m not sure if it was 1 audio track = 1 OMF, or 2 tracks (stereo) = 1 OMF (my key question/concern). But I think that doing seperate OMF chunks is to bypass the 2 GB limit, but still have one continuous OMF file. Plus easier to label the file for referencing perhaps?

Well..first how long is the project? If it’s a long film…maybe individual is why he asked based on the 2 gig limit.

You’re right though…just turn off all the tracks but one and export .omf. One at a time. Don’t worry about the stereo or mono tracks..it’ll still come out right.

You can get about hour per 4 tracks of audio to omf if they are are full. So 27 divided by 4 is 7 minutes of full 27 tracks at a time. Not a good amount for audio… which is usually 20 minutes per reel.

So..just do it individually… if it’s two hours you could do it 2 tracks at a time though and still hit under.

One hour show, 27 audio tracks. Thanks for the reply, i’ll export them individually. Hafta try to first cut the trracks down to 16 though :S. Does anybody know if keyframing and levels are retained in the OMF file?
