  • I use Sorenson Squeeze to produce MPEG-2 files for DVD. I always add a “lighten” filter with a setting of 12 which gives me files that match the contrast of my QT movies pretty well. Hope that helps.

The only thing that matters is how it looks on an external NTSC monitor. The canvas and viewer should NEVER be used to judge image quality.

VLC plays these files (>4GB) just fine. Ever seen a 2 hour mpeg under 4 GB? I haven’t – it would look awful after that much compression.

Apparently there has been a 4GB size limit on MPEG-2 file recognition since the QT MPEG-2 Player component came out.
…makes absolutely NO sense to me.

  • Looks like all large QT files (over ~4 GB) stop at 56:48.
Seems as though there’s a 4GB file limit on Quicktime recognition. NOT GOOD.

is a great basic description of multi-cam setup by Dean Sensui. It’ll get you started, though I WOULD read the manual first.

If you do a Search Posts for “bars and tone” you’ll get a slew of posts on this (set the search for “all active posts” – not just the last 2 weeks).
