Thanks heaps for you responses. Sean, I am going to try integrate your suggestions into my workflow. The head Avid person here thinks the Avid I am on might just be glitchy, maybe that is the case.

Cool thanks, yes it was just the odd frame here and there. I re rendered the sequence and put it on a different thumb drive and all was fine. Do you think that means that the thumb drive which did not work is corrupt and will do that all the time?

The thing is it plays off the USB but if it is dragged from the desktop onto the computer it plays out corrupt. Even if its just played in quicktime player.

Brilliant thanks so much for all your help guys. I think I’ll first try the BCC plug ins as they are already installed.
    Cheers

How embarrassing, I found the problem. I had turned on frame blending and motion blur on some layers but then turned it on in the comp. So it was previewing without it but rendering with it.

haha, whoops. Right here goes. I am using a PC Intel Core 2 Quad Q9540 2.66 GHZ.
I have 4 Gb of ram and am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Graphics card is Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT.
I am working from a bunch of iff image sequences rendered out of Maya. I am rendering out animation codec QT movies but also tried an image sequence and the same distortion effect occurred. I have enabled disc cache with a maximum disc cache size of 2000 mb. I am unsure about open GL although I do have that switched off in the preview settings in After effects.

Hi thanks for that and sorry about the double post. I think I will render my After effects clips out using animation at highest settings. At least then I can keep the sizes down a little.
The Apple Microsoft thing is really annoying, does it just mean Apple will have more of a strangle hold on people who want to use FCP?

Is there anyway I can output from After Effects on a PC using prores 422 HQ? Or do I need a Mac with FCP installed?

Is it possible to output quicktimes from After Effects on a PC using prores 422 HQ or do I need a a Mac with FCP installed to do this? I hope not.
