September 18, 2012 at 1:36 am in reply to: Premiere Pro CS6 keep losing keyboard controlWhat happens if you just close the sequence in the timeline and re-open it?
Have you updated to CS6.02? This is one of the issues I had after the update on 10.6.8. This was also followed by a delay in response to stopping the play in the timeline.
I re-installed CS6.01 cured everything.

Doing this fixed problems for me.

September 14, 2012 at 8:04 am in reply to: Can someone process this T2i Cinestyle clip in Premiere to match this photo?HDSLR cameras do not make an image smaller the same way Photoshop does. They throw away lots of information between pixels when creating the image in the camera, hence loss of resolution.
DSLR camera sensors are not optimised for moving pictures they’re optimised for still images.
The codec you are recording on – H264 – is highly compressed and created after what I’ve just stated above.
Recording video in HDSLRs was added at the request of news organisations so their still shooters could record video if necessary. Traditional print organisations now need video for their online outlets. The appeal to traditional cinematographers was the low depth of field opportunity comparable to 35mm movie film cameras and lenses. Their low light performance especially when compared to 1/3″ chip video cameras and finally their compactness. It’s always baffled me that people go and buy one of these cameras with a kit zoom that is f4.5 / f5.6. In doing this they have destroyed the first two reasons to choose these cameras.
That all said you can get great images from these cameras but you need a very thorough understanding of cinematography and working with the limitations this technology imposes on you.
Using Cinestyle requires a knowledge of color grading in post as it plays with the chroma and luminance curves. Have you tried applying the LUT from Technicolor? You can do this with a free plugin LUT Buddy from Magic Bullet.

September 13, 2012 at 9:54 pm in reply to: Program screen goes blank – anyone had this issueIt doesn’t mean it’s unusable everywhere. Some users are finding it better than 6.01, results seem to be erratic from discussions across the forums.
I had lots of issues on initial update install, timeline not playing, or just playing audio, eventually crashing.
What I discovered after doing lots of maintenance was that if I closed the sequence in the timeline and then re-opened it, it played. In the end I was left with one final issue, the play and stop functions were not instant, ie. if I hit the space bar the play would take a few frames to stop.
Finally I un-installed and re-installed CS6, then upgraded to 6.01 (which worked well for me previously) and I now have a properly function system again.
From this I can only surmise the problem for my system was 6.02.Cinematographer, Steadicam Operator, Final Cut Pro Post Production.

September 12, 2012 at 9:51 pm in reply to: Program screen goes blank – anyone had this issueYep had this too. Closing the sequence and re-opening it would normally work, otherwise re-starting Premiere. I did lots of maintenance (preferences, cache files, check drivers etc. but never got rid of the issue with timeline not responding to play and stop instantly.
Un-install 6.02. Re-install Premiere CS6. Update to CS6.01 (I did the update with a manual download from Adobe). Back to a stable system again.

September 12, 2012 at 9:43 pm in reply to: 2 Separate Projects, Same Crash (CS6 6.02, Mac)I had similar issues, although not total crashes. Eventually by trashing preference and cache files etc etc I got CS6.02 to a functional state except for the timeline not responding instantly to play and stop.
Last night I uninstalled Premiere Pro and then re-installed CS6 from Creative Cloud. I then downloaded CS6.01 update manually from Adobe and re-installed.
I now have a fully functioning Premiere Pro CS6.01 again. From looking around forums 6.02 seems to be a very flakey update, good for some but not good for others.

I didn’t realise that uninstalling Premiere Pro CS6.02 and then re-installing from Creative Cloud would start me off with v CS6 again.
Having done this and then manually downloading and installing the CS6.01 update I now have a properly functioning Premiere Pro again.
