So amost 2 years and some Updates later
Now On 10.1.2.Still the same Problem , Apple did.
Even with Proxy media the Timeline Slows down After 30 min
7 cameras original XDCAM HD 2hrs Programm
New project , First 20 min fast, then slowdown , unusable at 30 minDoes anyone have similar experiences or even a Solution ?
Splitting up in pieces is not reallye an Option, i have to do it now to get the Programm finished,But come on, Apple. Its just an EDL with a few Kb in reality , straight cuts, just Video
There Seems to be some memory leak due to bad programming , or is fcpx still a toy ? Only for small projects ?Any help very welcome
Thank you

no compound clips . just straight cuts
its seems to be a strange kind of memory usage
making a new project : copy the first 10 min into the new project : size 3 MB totaL 10 MIN
copying the 10 min 3times into the timeline 3,9 MB total 30 mincopying the next 10 min 9 MB total 20min
copying the third part 18 Mb total 30 min
the original 30min is 34 MB
and even 30 MB should not bend down the system but ist does

I also had the same problem with 10.0.5. so apple did not fix it!!
after 30 min of multicam editing everything slowed down untill no more work was possible
( beachball with every edit , playback stopped , only video cuts no dissolve , no fx
i have to do a programm with 2 Hrs . so i am really angry nowi noticed something when splttting up the rest ( which i hated to do because i wanted ONE timeline )
a similar project was nO problem in FCP 7)i looked at the size of the project files on the disk
30 Min = 107 MB the folder and 34MB just the Current version its got 216 Cuts ( clips)
16 Min = 17,8 MB!! the folder an 3,5 MB for the current vrsion its got 108 Cuts ( clips)SO; TEN times the size for double of time & cuts ,, Something grows very wrong here !! , exponential
BTW 8core 3,2Ghz MAcpro 24 GB RAM SAS RAID so its not the hardware 😉
ON 10.6.8 & 10.8.1 same problemPeter Schroeder

hi

are there any news ?a tool to mirror one monitor would also be ok.
i still miss this function very muchcome on guys@ blackmagic – do some magic and bring back the function !
its been over a year now ! do you still hear us ?an extra software tool would maybe be better if you cant incorporate it with the drivers
awaiting your answer / response

[gary adcock] “If you are talking about Media Manager issues what do those have to do with the KiPro?
“
i am having the problem tha the Mediamanager does not convert files created by the KIpro
( recorded onto the kipro disk in prores , copied to the MAC , )
finalcut reads the files , editing works all fine .exept that the Mediamanager does not resize or recompress the files .
If i export the file from a timeline with the exact parameters , and reimport it ,Mediamanager works ! !therer is no visible difference in any parameter between th two files.
there must be something IN the file or header that confuses FC / Mediamanagerregards

I miss it too !
what about writing a little extra app or pref pane to switch on & off the extended Desktop function, ?to exclude it from the drivers !
i really hope someone solves this problem if blackmagic does not react
, im not a programmer but cant imagine it that hard to do
could this be done with the SDKs that are out ?peter
