Hi Dave
Thanks for your advice. However since these lenses are so cheap on ebay ($20.- for a 28-85 Tokina). I’m giving it a try.
The reason is that I want to try a manual focus lens. I film classical music (multi-cam) and can only setup the cameras during a rehearsal. I film the performance which is often many hours later. My digital lenses don’t have a manual clutch like Olympus Pro series and I don’t leave the cameras switched on for so long so I lose the focus setting when switching on again, hence the trial with a manual lens.
I will gladly share my experiences with the cow world at a later date.
Thanks
Peter
Hi Michael
Many thanks for the info on VLC. That was the answer for me. Playing my exported files with VLC gives me exactly what I See in the Resolve viewer. I have now made VLC my default video player.
Thanks
Peter
Hi David
I also have this problem. I previously worked with FCP7 but have recently switched to Resolve 15.2 Studio on a 2018 iMac.
My exports are washed out. The problem is when you view the export with Quicktime. I imported the exported clip back into Resolve and the effect was nolonger present. So it seems that Resolve internally is consistent with the clips but external to Resolve there is a problem. I have also spent hours trying to find a solution. I will do a check again on my other iMac with the same content but with FCP7.
Most comments on this problem propose using an calibrated monitor – but is the digital USB3/Thunderbolt 3 output any different from the data used by Quicktime internally?
Hope we find a solution.
Cheers
Peter
Thanks to all for the advice.
Yes I should really convert the 8k to ProRes 422. I was trying to take a short cut. However I still managed to grade all the clips in the timeline without the conversion of the 8k mp4.
Thanks
Peter
Thanks Joseph
In the timeline (Edit) I can play the mixture of clips (except the 8k slows down and is jerky).
In the Color tool I can just click from one clip to another but the images shown do not always match (thumbnails with the large viewer window).
I have 40 Gigs of memory.
Thanks
Peter
Hi Paul
The Problem was stupid. I had the new keyboard incorrectly configured.
Option G gave me a copywriter symbol which is similar to the @ and I did not see the mistake.
Best regards
Peter
Hi Paul
Thanks for your prompt answer. The old iMac is a mid 2011. The last time I changed the password was about 2 years ago. It still works on the old iMac (checked just before) and contains only upper and lower case and numbers.
Best regards
Peter
Hi Ty
Many thanks for this find. Yes this looks like the type of software I was looking for. I have written to their support team to ask if it will help with my problem. In the meantime I will prepare 2 files to send you.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi Bill
Thanks for your comment. I solved the problem a different way. I went back to my vintage fcp7 and found that by clicking the “luminosity” flag in the sharpen effect controls solved the problem.
Cheers
Peter
