I’m 100% with Matte on this one – even if you are in the city his solution is cost-effective in my book. I use an eartec system – in my mind even that is a much better deal than renting.

Here in Colorado there are no rental houses outside Denver. If I want to rent a set-up for a gig in Aspen it can involve a 5 hour hour drive to pick up the equipment, fedex charge to send it back, and 2-3 days rental.

that is very neat Matte – Radio shack (and others) also make cordless phones where you can add satellites to the main base unit – I wonder if you could use those?

yes the color finesse/FCP interface is a little quirky (i never got it to run smoothly) but you can create reference images to color match scenes – its a very well implemented feature, as is the curves panel

  • no there is no waiver.

in fact even if you are incorporated not having liability insurance may encourage a court to “lift the corporate veil” and put your personal assets up for grabs. The new bankruptcy laws mean that unless your personal assets exceed $1m there is no practicable way to protect anything you own from a lawsuit.

Yes your liability insurance should cover you for the acts of any employees. Any (non-director) employees must also be covered by workmans comp. Workmans comp is for employees only – it does not cover independent contractors.

  • You cannot afford enough insurance to cover yourself 100%.

Go with 1-2 million and incorporate so that if the worst happens your personal assets are protected.

yes more light will help but so will setting the gain at 0.

turn down the sharpness setting – default on the GL1 is way too high

a very light gaussian blur in post also helps

not just the posts you need to clean the entire mating surface. a pencil eraser rubbed very carefully over the surface might help , if you feel confident about not introduing any residue into the camera

thanks for the replies and emails. I think the problem is just with my install of WMP. Flash is definitely my medium of choice, but for various reasons this one had to go WMP. Actually if I have total freedom I would use QT and the H264 codec – it seems to have the jump on everything for right now.
