We have captured uncompressed SDI DVCpro video to our XRAID. We are running FCP 5.0.2, OS 10.4, XSAN 1.1.

It seems as if our audio is lagging behind the video when we are playing it back. The partition is striped raid 5 and we only have 2 streams playing, so speed should not be an issue. I can make the audio speed up by checking the 12 tracks of audio mixing, and i can make it slow down by checking 32 or 64 tracks of audio mixing (I only need 8). This is a 45 minute project that we brought in just to lay graphics on. Are there any other settings that need to be checked? We have also mixed down the audio and had no luck.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanx much,

    M

    It’s a known problem with DVCpro and FCP 5. It’s a non-issue in FCP 4.5 and earlier.
Apple says it’s working on the problem, but is mum on a fix.

You can play with the Playback Offset to adjust the playback into sync.

Whenever working in FCP I only monitor my external NTSC monitor and my external speakers via a Kona 2 with Playback offset set to 0.

[DCsillag] “It’s a known problem with DVCpro and FCP 5”

I’ve only heard of DVCPro HD 720p having issues with SDI capture. This is the first I’ve heard of SD DVCPro material having an SDI issue.
