I’d love to say that I solved the problem, but I have given up on it for the moment. I tried everything I could think of and no luck. If anyone figures something out I’d love to hear about the solution.

I tried that as the output option and ended up with the same brightening problem. I even tried quicktime .mov output from from the export box and had the same problem. The only output format that doesn’t do it is .avi. It’s a really weird problem and I’m really curious why it’s happening. Thanks for the response.

It would be easier to make it using Particular as they have a pre-set that is relatively close to what you want to do. They were using Starglow much more than anything else. To get the actual text you would need to create a mask around each letter (copy and paste the text from illustrator or use outline in AE). I’ve got to run, but that’s the basic idea.

I would suggest building the brackets in Illustrator and choose to continually rasterize the image, that way you won’t have any degradation in their look if they scale up. 3d space all the elements (except the car footage) and parent the text to the brackets so they move together.

Use the motion tracker to match the movement of the car. Copy the keyframes onto the position of the end point of the line (or use an expression). Unfortunately there’s no way to track the motion in 3d inside of AfterEffects so you’ll have to fake it. One way I’ve found that works well is to have a 2d object that scales up and down matching one object in the scene (in the case of the smart key text just put an object over the door handle). Once you’ve got that keyframed properly just use an expression that has your z-position match the scaling of the object. That way it will give the impression that it is moving forward and backward in sync with the motion of the car.

Click import on the AE window and choose the Premiere project. It will import everything into a folder where you can then open up the timeline in AE. I’ve had some problems with some of the edits getting screwed up in AE, but they’re usually pretty quick to fix.

It would be extremely difficult to replicate what 3d stroke can do with the normal stroke (plus a ton of work). Of course, if you’re just using it to outline an object go with standard stroke. Download the demo and try it out to see if it’ll be something you’ll use. I find it’s a great tool to have for certain projects, but can be overdone if used too often.

It would depend on what you plan on using the footage for in AE. 3d invig. is a great program and can do a lot, but sometimes it would be a better option to render the movie out of 3dsm and then import that along with the camera data which can then be applied to an AE camera. That way it would still look like it’s interacting with the AE 3d space, but be much easier on the render.
