Hi Tracy,

If that’s all you need then you need to launch the Graffiti Help system and go directly to the Reference Information group. You’ll find all of the info that you need right there. To launch the help viewer, just launch the Graffiti application, then select Help>Boris Graffiti Help. Then on the Contents tab of the help system, click on Reference Information.

Hi Sergio,

According to our QA department, you should probably keep the older versions on the system for compatibility with legacy projects that may have used those versions. Moving forward though, I’d suggest using only the latest version on all new projects.

We are not quite sure why you are seeing a freeze – can you please provide an exact set of steps so that we can attempt to reproduce this in-house?

Hi Jim,

I was able to perform cut/copy/paste actions on keyframes in the advanced keyframe editor right in the Avid interface. Here’s what you need to do.

• apply a BCC filter to a clip in the Avid timeline
• go into Avid Effect mode
• at the bottom of the Effect Editor window, you should see several icons. There should be one at the right, which if you hover over it, should be labeled “Promote to Advanced Keyframes”
• click on the “Promote …” button and the Effects Editor will change, expanding to display a keyframe editor. This is where you control the keyframes as opposed to doing this in the main viewer window.

Hi Ondine,

So herewith are the steps to follow in FCP with Boris Title Crawl:

• click on the generators button in the FCP video source viewer window
• select Boris>Title Crawl
• set the in and out points for the title effect in the video source window
• click on the controls tab of the source viewer window
• click on the Boris Title Crawl banner
• in the title generation window that appears, click the import button
• select the text file to import and click okay
• select all of the text using command + a
• set up the text style
• click on the Apply button when the text is set
• click on the video tab of the source viewer window
• drag the text from the video source viewer into the timeline
• double click the text in the timeline to bring the controls forward
• click on the controls tab of the source viewer window
• select either roll or crawl from the animation style pop-up
• scroll down to the bottom of the controls list
• enable the checkbox for “use percent done”
• move the cti to the start of the clip
• set a keyframe for percent done with the value set to zero
• move the cti to where you want the title to hold
• set a keyframe for percent done and set the value to 100

I just promoted an effect to Advanced Keyframes in Avid and was able to copy and paste a keyframe in the effect editor window. Is this what you were looking for?

Hi Ondine,

There are keyframes which are set by default for all effects and the title container is no exception to this. Here’s how it works. Do the following:

• launch RED
• add a text page track (text generator opens by default)
• import a text file
• close the text generator window
• select the top level of the text track
• add a title container (the text page should be nested in the container automatically because it was the current selection when you added the text track)
• in the controls window, select roll as the animation style

When you select the Roll style animation, observe that in the controls window, beside the position Y text you should see a box with a diagonal slash. This indicates that a keyframe has been added with linear interpolation. If you click on this diagonal slash, you will see that there are many other options for keyframe interpolation. Leave it set to Linear though.

• move on in the timeline to the place where you would like the last page to stop
• click in the box beside the Position Y and select hold from the list. This action will hold all vertical animation of the title roll at this position from this time forward. Then you can change the value in the numeric display box beside the Position Y parameter to set the page into the correct position for the hold.

Hi,

You just need to place a hold style keyframe for position Y at the place where you want the credit roll to stop moving. Or you can just drag the last keyframe in the timeline for the title container to the position in the timeline where you want the animation to stop.
