Hi Steve,

Okay, there are two options for you to try … first, go to the filter and twirl down the General Controls group. Then set the Fields pop-up to Quality Optimized. See if this solves the problem. Also, make sure you are in green/green (high rez) mode in the Avid. If this does not work, then your only other option is to upgrade to BCC 5 so that you can use AVX 2, which on my screen does not exhibit the issue that you are reporting.

I understand your frustration with this and if there was something that we could do to circumnavigate the issue then we would do exactly that but unfortunately I don’t think there is any other answer. At least for now this appears to be the case.

By the way, have you attempted to open the project with the caps lock enabled before launch? This way, FCP is prevented from attempting to render to the screen before completing the launch process. Can you please give that a shot and let me know if this helps?

Also, what BCC filter were you using when the host crashed? And can you tell me if the Magic Bullet software is FxPlug architecture and not using the AE API? You can see this in the effects window of FCP – if it’s FxPlug that will be listed as the filter class to the right of the name of the filter.

I just checked and can see this too but when I promote the effect to AVX 2 the problem that you describe disappears. Can you give that a shot and let me know if it works for you?

Well it might work – see if you can find a driver for the mac for this card and if so then it might be okay. Ideally, you might want to see if you can get a halfway decent Nvidia card and if it works keep it but if it doesn’t solve the problem then return the card.

Hi,

Well the issue that I helped out with last December, to which you have provided a link in your message, was related to use of ATI Radeon video card – the problem disappeared when that user switched to a different “main” card in the system prefs. I don’t know if this will ever be fixed – it’s not something that we have any control over.

Can you try an Nvidia Graphics card in the machine to see if this solves the problem?
