Hi Tom,

It’s unclear to me what exactly the root cause of the problem that you are having with the bitmap to vector tool but there are several things that you might want to try.

• open the vector trace palette (window>vector trace) and adjust the tolerance values. you’ll have to create a new spline every time you make a change to this parameter but it’s something to look at

• in the vector trace palette, set the trace channel pop-up to alpha

• you should also disable the view of other tracks and turn off the checkerboard so that you are tracing the alpha over black

• trace tolerance should be set to 1, trace threshold to 50, and pre-blur to 3

• in the spline tools palette, make sure the freehand tolerance is set to 3

Then try to trace the object. If this does not work for you please feel free to send me the image and I’ll trace it and send you a RED project settings file.

Hi John,

I don’t know why you are experiencing problems with RED on Vista but I suspect that it has to do with the order in which you have loaded the software. The last item that you installed was CS4, right? RED actually plugs-into CS4 so you would need to install RED after CS4. I suggest downloading the latest version of the RED installer from our website (www.borisfx.com/downloads) and see if reinstalling using the application does the trick.

Regarding the compatibility of Blue and the latest NVidea drivers … we publish on our web site a list of drivers that have been tested with Blue. You can find that here:

There must be some confusion as Graffiti does not install any fonts onto the system. Is this a setting from the Library Browser perhaps? If so, what category? If you provide me with the exact path then I’ll attempt to reproduce the problem here.

There may be an update to the version of the software that you have installed … you should check the version number with the latest from the BorisFX web site. The latest version updater is available here:

Hi Mark,

We believe the the issue is due to BCC 3 effects not automatically coming forward to AVX 2 in MC 3.1. There is an option to install BCC 3 with the BCC 5 product installer – you should re-run the installer and select this option so that you have both BCC 3 and BCC 5 installed on the system. Then the bins and effects that you have been using should behave exactly as expected.
