Steve, please forgive my ignorance, but I am not seeing options for kb speed in Compressor, only different codecs. The first H264 1K version I tried gave me a 25k file that was 4/3 in aspect. I’m now trying a new H264 setting that promises to respect my original quicktime .mov settings, At this point I’m keen to get the 16 x 9 replication in a low rez file.Thanks for your patience.

Yesterday I had the lovely Flip4Mac watermark (should be called “PutOut4Windows”) appear via conversion to Qtime with QTime and MPGStreamclip. Not having the $29 handy for converting a few seconds of footage, I ended up putting the WMV file directly into my FCP timeline and it rendered just fine, no watermark….

Hi Patrick, I’m experiencing similar challenges with MTS files. I tried the ClipWrap, though I’m not finished or getting good results yet. Need to mix 720p mts files into a 1080i sequence on FCP7. Any joy on your end? Peter

Compressor (3.5) doesnt recognise MTS files, although FCP can import through log & transfer. No need to render MTS ( 720p) into 1080i sequence although movement looks shakey and stuttery. Any further suggestions to improve this image movement problem is much appreciated.

Thanks folks for the heads up – yeah, its the dreaded MTS files, so its Compressor for me. I still wonder what the better sequence settings are ? 720p or 1080i – I hear so many conflicting reports that I guess I will have to make my own tests to ascertain what will look better – I dont mind smaller PiP of 720 within the larger 1080 if thats the best way to go.

Thank you Walter. Which setting in FCP will produce the best output for HD screening ? 720p to 1080i or 1080i to 720p? Are Compressor times the same for each conversion?
