  • Music should go to front Left and Right.
    Not Centre
Some / most mixers / I will send it to rear left and rear right via a reverb and often delay it by a few ms to create an immersive feel. (optional)
Lastly, if there is sub content in the music this would go the .1 channel via an eq plug to stop all but the sub element.

    Afraid so
He cant re allocate the audio elements in a LR mix to satisfy the definition of LCR.
Might be worthwhile him talking to whoever is requesting it if thats really hard to achieve, such as it was made ages ago and all media deleted, or he doesnt have access to the track lay anymore etc.

    Hi Ty
If supplying L C R stems I expect they mean
the C should only contain dialogue and the L and R only contain Everything except dialogue.
This in addition to a standard stereo mix.

    Hi
    pleased I could help.
Your explanation of your problem made it seem pretty obvious what was causing your issue, but I admit that understanding phase etc is very much a sound engineers area.

    Hi again.
VO stands for Voice over not video output. This issue hasnt anything to do with video .

I think that its possible that the Voice over on your Premiere timeline may be out of phase, and therefore any playback of an outputted file WHEN PLAYED IN MONO may miss the voice over from the mix.

So my suggestion was to ensure that any VO (voice over) on your premiere timeline is only 1 side of the vo file. This means it will only come out of 1 speaker. Then this track needs to be panned to the centre to output it through both speakers, and increase its volume by +3 db to make up for the panning (fade law). The VOICE OVER can no longer be out of phase as you only have only 1 leg of it on the timeline.

    Hope that makes more sense.
    Let me know

Do you have your audio on 2 tracks in premiere (ie is it what you’ll probably call stereo?)
My guess is that the VO is out of phase and its being mono’d on output phase cancelling the vo and removing it from the mix.
Try removing 1 side of the vo pair (say right leg from the premiere timeline, ) then panning the left centre in the audio mixer
AND increase the left channel of vo by +3db which will put your level back when it was, then try re exporting.

Hi Dave. No as its a client supplied recording. However if export it to anew file such as H264 then it goes into premiere ok.
Im just wanting to explore if there is anything I can do / adjust, in premiere to make these “rogue” recordings import better / fully?

The files are recordings made of a webinar, so not from a camera at all.
They are mp4 H264 codec. frame rate in quicktime inspector says 29.87 (!!!!!!)

Izotope rx is great for many audio issues, including distortion, but it does depend on HOW hot exactly.
    Post a clip?
