Audio switcher
Posted by Tom Prigge on June 25, 2019 at 2:26 amThis is more of a consumer question, so admin feel free to delete. I have a 1978 Marantz receiver. I want to hook up multiple audio sources, but have them all go into the same input on the Marantz. I have found passive switchers, but they all also are for video. I guess I could use them, but is there an audio only version of such a thing? What search words would I use to find them? Or do you have suggestions on a good one? Thanks!

June 25, 2019 at 1:19 pmYes, that would work, but it is literally ten times the price of an unpowered switch box that does audio and video that I have found on Amazon. For my consumer needs, this might be more than I need.

You’ve found a 5×1 stereo audio/video switcher for under $24?
Impressive!
What is it?

June 28, 2019 at 7:00 pmThis is not a “race for the bottom”. ????
It is an example of that valuable axiom posited by a reviewer over on GearSlutz, one of my favorite tech quotations:“A $200 cable is better than a $2 cable. But it is not better than a $5 cable.”
There is no doubt that the features of the $240 Kramer switcher are essential for many installations. The remote-control and system network features being the most notable.
But for simple stereo line-level input selection, the Kramer box will provide no extra value over the cheap-n-cheerful solutions. KISS. I believe in spending my budget where it will have the most benefit.———————————————————————————
