Dialogue Rescue Needed
Posted by Bob Mark on February 13, 2019 at 3:03 pmHey everyone, a producer friend of mine has an interview that was recorded too hot. Does anyone know of a software solution or an EQ setting that would be helpful in saving the interview? Thanks.

February 14, 2019 at 4:59 pmIzotope rx is great for many audio issues, including distortion, but it does depend on HOW hot exactly.

Please let me know if you think it can be rescued. Thank you

February 24, 2019 at 6:00 pmsince it is clipped so harshly(about half the waveform is gone), you can only declip so much. So after that, you have to focus more on reducing the overal harshness. Our ears are sensitive to transients, dynamics, and noise.
in RX, i did in this order, declip, dialogue isolate, voice denoise. Then in, audition, studio reverb 100hz. classical and finally multiband compression.
