    My 10p
Mono for vo record. Stereo mix ensuring phase compatibility.
Years ago I worked on radio. We had to ensure mono compatability as we were on mw and .
Then each station became mw or fm so we stopped even thinking about mono on fm broadcast.
It depends on if the station simulcasts or not.

    Why fee
If you’re working in an area that required loudness metering at all, then surely a proper paid for solution isn’t beyond you?

” this was project was just thrown on me yesterday.”

Sometimes we have to be BIG enough to “throw” it right back.
You have too much on at your experience level. And someone with a greater experience level would staff up.

The people who threw it at you wont be expecting a train wreck. There is a real possibility of this.

I have been in TV and broadcasting for 27 years, and would really think twice about shooting 3 cameras with 4 channels of radio solo.

If the people youre working with are going to be understanding if it all goes pear shaped, then thats one thing, but make sure they KNOW that this is your position and that it a situation of their making.

  • If your camera has 2 x audio inputs, and you have 4 radios that can be on sufficiently separated frequencies, thenn there isnt a problem?
When you capture to your NLE just take in both legs (as stereo) and trat them separately on the timeline.

Well based on what you say and not having heard anything I d go for the low clean audio and boost.
Can you post a clip so we can have a listen . That way it’s less hypothetical

2 answer this , I need to ask more questions.

What is the noise floor like on the lower recording. And how low is it exactly.
What makes the average recording average. Noise / distortion / noise floor high?

I have looked at SD drives, but as BIG ones are still very costly, Im inclined to stay with the MUCH cheaper traditional drives for media and have a break for coffee every now and then!
