No problem Luke. I didn’t want to miss out on any new toys. RT CG on the timeline would be nice. I’m not fussed about RT colour correction. Color-Finesse is just sensational and worth the render time (which is pretty fast).

Thanks Luke,
I just loaded up 4.81, but there doesn’t seem to be any more RT than 4.8. Have I missed something?

April 18, 2005 at 12:09 pm in reply to: Upgrade to Studio from earlier versions of FCP?Thanks Richard. Did you find the workflow fluid and effective in long-form editing with FCP? Although I’m very happy with Premiere Pro’s plugin structure and integration with other Adobe apps, the ease of use (ala edit) is lacking.

April 18, 2005 at 5:48 am in reply to: Upgrade to Studio from earlier versions of FCP?Thanks again George. I was also looking at getting a used Dual 2.00 G5. (I’m starting to sound cheap now!) But I’m hesitant to spend big bucks again. I just paid off my discreet system from ’97. I’m not sure if the 2.0 would have enough grunt for the new RT Extreme syuff, but I’ll continue snooping around.
Cheers again. PS I wouldn’t head Down Under for a while. We’re heading into a nasty winter.

I haven’t actually got FCP. I’m still looking for a long-term replacement for my discreet edit system. At the moment I’m using Prmeiere Pro with Decklink SDI, but the new version of Final Cut has me interested. I was thinking of finding an early version of FCP on eBay and upgrading that way (if I go to Appleland)
Cheers,

Relatively small GOP attempting to create a structure that looked like /IBPBPBPBPB. Not every encoder allows tight control over the GOP structure or the setting is masked by a ‘user friendly’ interface. But I got as close as I could.
David, what’s the guff on gop? What advantages are there to playing around with GOP? That part of MPEG encoding is a black art to me.

April 7, 2005 at 12:05 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro with large Video in Timeline crashing !!I don’t kmow Claus. I doubt it somehow. You project sounds typical of the problems I’ve had with complex projects with lots of edits. Are you close to finishing? If so I would recommend doing that export idea use a new project. Not an ideal solution. At least try it as a test to see if things improve.

I just think this is a flaw with the current version of PPro. I can’t think of anything you can try except if you are “close” to finishing, export the sequence to BM codec or uncompressed AVI, create a new project, import the new export and import ONLY those elements you need to complete the project. It’s not the most flexible way to do it, but it won’t use up all the system resources like you are doing now.
