I sold a copy a legit copy of 1.5 on eBay. I filled out the downloadable Adobe licence transfer form and the new owner was entitled to upgrades. Make sure the seller is willing to do the transfer correctly. Go by the feedback rating of the seller as a start.

Thanks for that. I will go the 6800Gt or Ultra route as I don’t do 3-D. The Geforce’s are not on the BM certified list, but I’m sure I’ve senn Matt recommend them somewhere. I’ll have a hunt on eBay. They will be coming down in price as the 7800’s start selling more.

The only other way if you can is to go the other way; grunge it up, deinterlace, apply a MovieLook filter, etc. I did that on a job and the client thought it was all sourced from DigiBeta and grunged deliberately!

There’s a known issue with PSD’s and memory hogging in 1.51. Batch change your PSD’s in PS to Tiffs, Targas or JPEG’s then reimport. Also with 1-gig of RAM and 120+ 4K x 4x, you are dead set certain to blow all your ram on load up. Also make sure the color mode for the pics is RGB.

Your render time are similar to mine. They look great but the render time is a killer. Future speed increases would have to come from re-engineering by Red Giant.

It was worse when discreet renamed D-Vision Online as “edit”. I told them at the time it was the dumbest name; “I’m going to edit on my edit.” At the end of the beta program for edit 6.0/5, I believe the name was to become Ignite, but alas ’twas not to be. I’ve said it here before but clients used to come to the studio and say, “Nice Avid”, so it probably doesn’t matter these days for most clients.

I think people will get use to the Premiere Pro name, in the same way we got used to Final Cut Pro and it’s use in the broadcast and professional arena. If I had the Matrox Axio, I’d just say I work on “Axio”. But I usually say I work on Premiere just to get a reaction. And two of our Premiere projects won gold medals last week in the national ASC awards, so I don’t really care what people think.

All the Adobe advertising in the world won’t change the perception that PPro is not for pros. What will change it is word-of-mouth from us users who are using Premiere for high-end production work. When that word-of-mouth reaches a certain momentum, the perception battle will be won.

Good to see! My golf is eh ummm…. a little rusty. All my edit stuff has gone, but I still like to hang around and see what happening on the edit forum. I’m all PPro though now, which has been a roller-coaster ride, but there are great advancements coming soon(ish).
