Hi Tim,
I never seem to find much tech or user info on the Cinematography forum about DOF adaptors. Even on a three month view I could only find four direct 35mm adaptor threads. I do like the Cinematography very much but I don’t go there for 35mm info.

I would like to see what AJA thinks of these ideas for making The Ki Pro work better with handheld big cameras.
Some suggestions…
1. AJA to approach Portbrace and/or KATA to make a specific shoulder bag for the Ki Pro/Exoskeleton. This could give extra room foir drivers, batts, etc as well.
2. Provide a single dual-core cable (3 metre?) that could provide start/stop control and SDI connection. I’m not meaning a new multi-core connection, but a seperate SDI/BNC and lens tap connector.
3. Incorporate a warning sound if RF / video signal is broken to the Ki-Pro.

I feel the best handheld option would be if the Ki-Pro was in a small sound mixer style case by Portabrace or KATA, and a snake containing SDI Co-ax and a control cable connecting the Ki to the large format camera.
This could be slung over the shoulder of the camera person. It’s not quite like the old BVU days, because of the smaller size and weight of the Ki Pro.
I’d also have a quick release connector in the cable. If AJA could put in a audible warning system (like a loud beeping sound) if the video signal dropped out, you would get confidence recording.

I still think that is a lot of dough Nigel for just getting a feed from the camera. Plus there are confidence issues about the integrity of the recording via wireless, no mater how good the IDX is.

You probably misunderstood me. I meant “no response” from all the camera operators who were posting on forums, not AJA. Besides my post, there are many other unrelated threads all over the web raving about the Ki but not one person mentions shooting off the shoulder with the it.
I don’t want to sound pedantic but my original question directly concerned 2/3″ cameras like Varicam and XDCAM HD and how the Ki Pro could operate with it hand held. The info in the above post refers to small cameras (I’m assuming cams like the HVX200 and ERX1/3). I still can’t see how the procedure detailed above would work with our SDX900 which is similar to the camera shown in the AJA brochure. The camera would sit way too high on the shoulder for operating.
